Rolling Kitchen Island Review: Is It Worth It for a Small Kitchen?

If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably noticed that I recently added a rolling kitchen island to my kitchen. The funny thing is…I already have a kitchen island.
So why would I add another one?
When Temu reaches out for collaborations, I get to browse and choose the products I’d genuinely like to feature in my home. I didn’t pick this island because I needed another place to prep food. I chose it because I had an empty wall in my kitchen that was calling for a counter-height piece, and I immediately loved how multifunctional this one looked.
I also try to choose products that I think you’ll genuinely enjoy. Not everyone has room for a large built-in island, so I thought this would be a great option to test and share.

Why I Chose This Island
One of the biggest selling points for me was the flexibility.
Most of the time, this island sits against the wall and acts as a beautiful sideboard with extra storage. But because it’s on locking wheels, I can easily roll it wherever I need it. If I’m baking, hosting family, or just need more prep space, I can move it in seconds.
That kind of versatility is hard to beat, especially in a smaller kitchen where every square foot matters.

It Fits My Space Better Than I Expected
One thing I love about this island is how versatile it is.
I styled it as a coffee bar beneath my floating shelves, and it filled this empty wall perfectly. Instead of feeling like another piece of furniture, it looks like it was always meant to be there.
One of the reasons I included the photo of me sitting at it is to show how you could use it in your own home. With the drop leaf extended, there’s enough room to pull up a couple of counter-height stools, making it a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee, eat a quick breakfast, help kids with homework, or chat while someone cooks.
If you have a small kitchen, I think this is one of the biggest advantages of a piece like this. You get the functionality of an island with seating, but because it’s on wheels, you can easily move it whenever you need the extra space.

The Storage Is Better Than I Expected
This was probably the biggest surprise.
I’ve reviewed several storage cabinets and kitchen furniture pieces over the past couple of years, and one thing I often run into is that the cabinets aren’t deep enough for larger appliances.
This one is.
My KitchenAid stand mixer fits inside comfortably, which was a huge win. It also holds my bread machine, Dutch oven, serving pieces, bowls, and cake stand with room to spare.
If you’re looking to clear off your countertops, this island offers a surprising amount of storage.

The Flip-Top Makes It Even More Functional
My favorite feature has to be the drop-leaf countertop.
It’s incredibly easy to lift into place and instantly gives you a larger work surface. Even better, it creates enough room for two counter-height stools, making it perfect for casual meals, homework, or chatting while someone cooks.
When you’re finished, simply fold the top back down and the island becomes much more compact.
For anyone with a small kitchen, I think this feature alone makes it worth considering.

My Honest Review
No product is perfect, so here are my honest thoughts after using it.
What I Loved
- Beautiful, clean design that blends nicely with my kitchen
- Excellent storage space
- Fits my KitchenAid stand mixer, which many similar cabinets don’t
- Locking wheels make it easy to move around
- Drop-leaf expands the countertop in seconds
- Adds seating without taking up permanent floor space
- Feels sturdy once assembled
A Small Downside
The only real downside for me is that it doesn’t have any drawers.
For some people, that could be a dealbreaker if you’re looking for utensil storage.
Personally, it wasn’t an issue. I assemble a lot of furniture every month, so I was actually happy not to have another set of drawer slides to install. It made assembly a little simpler, and I don’t really need drawers in this location.
Still, it’s worth mentioning if drawer storage is important to you.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’d give this rolling kitchen island an A.
It looks great, offers much more storage than I expected, and the drop-leaf design makes it incredibly versatile. Whether you need extra prep space, additional storage, or a way to add seating in a small kitchen, I think it’s a fantastic option.
Even though I already owned a kitchen island, this one serves a completely different purpose in my home. It filled an empty space beautifully while adding functionality that I use every day.
I would absolutely recommend it.
